Ani-Mia will be attending the 1st Galactic Con. The League of Hot Geeks arranged for Ani-Mia’s visit to Middletown and we can’t be happier. With over half a million fans on Facebook, I think she will be a great addition to the con!

Ani-Mia has been cosplaying since 2008 but has been a geek since she was sporting her Knight Rider tees at age 3. Her love for video games, comic books and anime are reflected in her wide variety of cosplay costumes. The majority of her costumes are hand-crafted by herself though she has teamed with top designers on a few occasions. She has worked with numerous convention organizers and artists to provide her services as a professional, model cosplayer for general fans and fellow cosplayers alike. She has had the opportunity to travel to conventions across the country, judge numerous costume contests, appear in both online and print magazines and meet tons of amazing people including those within the industry and fans! The one thing she really wants to do is help bring the cosplay community together as a whole and has been involved in numerous charity events and panels on topics such as body image and positivity within cosplay. She also has a love for providing her knowledge in costume making to new cosplayers.

Any name suggestions for our new friend?buz-logo

Check out his bio here.

“Neil Vokes is a true original — creative, cantankerous, enthusiastic and an all-around great guy. I started working with him on Vampirella, and when he was fired from the book by know-nothing bean counters, I called him up to tell him not to take it personally, it’s not as if they had any taste or judgment. That call led to several collaborations, and a warm friendship. I hope I’ll still be coming up with projects Neil and I can do together until I retire, and I hope we’re friends for even longer. If you know Neil’s work, you know why I like it so much. If you don’t, check out the site. You’ve got a treat in store…” –Kurt Busiek

More amazing news for Galactic Con! Middletown’s Walgreens will be at the con to take instant pictures! If any of your were at last night’s Trick or Treat on Main St. then you know this is an awesome way to get a professional photo while you wait.

Get your picture taken with the 501st Garrison Carida Star Wars characters at the Walgreens booth! Walgreens will collect donations for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Remember we will also have more awesome cosplayers with the Delaware Ghostbusters and the Ashen Phoenix group!

Ashen Phoenix is a national cosplay group based out of the Northeast. Starting in the import scene, the team noticed a correlation between the designs of the cars and the overall celebration of Japanese culture. That was the first introduction into anime, and it became more of a fit for the girls than what they had been doing. Ashen Phoenix is comprised of a group of gamers, comic book fans, Otakus that have been cosplaying professionally for two years, even though some of them have been involved for almost a decade. They are constantly striving to learn more about the art of cosplay to create a wider variety of costumes with different techniques as the team prides themselves on designing their own attire. Check our their facebook page for some of their awesome costumes.
