For Eddie Getty, a thrift store VCR and a colander from WalMart did the trick. Gail Wagner tried out four suits before being satisfied with a purchase off eBay.
They were searching for the right pieces for their costumes, both making first time visits to a comic convention dressed in costume, in this case the Galactic Con in Middletown.
They were joined by dozens of other fans in dressing up as characters from sci-fi, anime, video games, comics and pop culture that flooded the second year ‘con,’ one of a handful of similar events that have drawn thousands around the state.
